I remembered I’d been meaning to post this little mileage breakdown for our trip here, just so you can get a sense for how far we’ve driven and why it is I never want to see another car as long as I live. ;)
Total miles driven: 4,754.3
Total fuel consumed: 156.269 gallons
Average consumption: 30.4238 miles per gallon
The least we paid for gas was about $3.679 in Springfield, Missouri. The most we paid was $4.699 at the Chevron on the corner near our house after we got back. I’m quite pleased with the Matrix’s performance on this trip. I know there are better-performing cars on the road, but 30.5 mpg (assuming I’ve calculated that figure correctly) is pretty impressive for a five-year-old car, even one which was advertised at the time to have good fuel economy. Now I want to keep track of my usage here in town for a couple weeks and see what kind of performance I get.
