OK. Several years ago when we were young(er) and rather foolish with our money we bought a lot of Legos. Yes, it’s supposed to be LEGO©, but I don’t care. Among the many sets we purchased was #7144, which happens to be Boba Fett’s ship the Slave I. I built the kit, set it on the shelf and ignored it. A couple years ago we did a big cleaning, and I tore it down and put ALL the pieces into a baggie with the instructions and filed it away in the closet. Today (well, yesterday by now) I re-built the kit. We’re going to sell our Legos to raise a bit of cashola, and I’m checking them to make sure they’re complete. And there’s a piece MISSING. It’s a green 2x4 slope brick. My hope is I misplaced it while rebuilding the set.

I can get another one (probably), if I head to Downtown Disney to visit the Lego store. That’s only a 40 mile schlep. I imagine I could even order one online. Oh! I just checked and there’s now a Lego store in the Glendale Galleria! That’s actually not too bad a drive. It’s still a schlep, but it’s about fifteen miles each way (uphill, in the snow, yes yes). Hm. That’s a possibility. Of course, it’s an afternoon shot to hell for a single piece of green plastic, but considering the set is fetching up to $50 on eBay it might be worth it. I’m sure that as I work through the sets (several of which got jumbled together a year ago by two enthusiastic boys) I’ll find I’m missing other bits and pieces.

I spent a couple hours pawing through a huge bag of pieces trying to put together an A-Wing fighter, a landspeeder and a couple other smaller kits. I am now officially sore and tired and I want to go to bed. I just hope I don’t wake Grace. She finally finished this nasty script she’s been working on for the last couple weeks, and has collapsed into a well-deserved slumber.
