4. Mike Keneally
5. A-Ha
6. Ohguro Maki
7. A Flock of Seagulls
8. Laura Veirs

10. The Bobs

What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
Eien no Yume ni Mukatte, which translates (I think) to the Future I'd Hoped for Has Changed. to "Facing the Eternal Dream. Yes, I am taking Japanese and no, I didn't bother trying to translate that myself; I was going on something I half-remembered, which is where I went wrong. My thanks to [personal profile] torachan for the correction. He's so helpful! :)

What is your favorite song of 8?
Galaxies.

What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?
Wow, um, pretty big, actually. When I was very young my Aunt Mary was a fan of theirs, and she had their albums. Whenever we'd go to their lodge in northern Wisconsin she'd always play their 8-tracks in the car, and their LPs in the lodge. The first album I ever bought for myself with my own money was Arrival, which remains my favourite of their albums to this day. Also since Mary's death in 2004 their music serves as a way for me to remember her.

What is your favorite lyric of 5?
"I can still hear our screams competing/You're hissing your "S"es like a snake"

How many times have you seen 4 live?
Twice.

What is your favorite song by 7?
Well, I know this is probably predictable, since it's the ONLY song ANYone knows by them, but: I Ran. Seriously though, their entire first album is USDA Prime new wave pop. Can't go wrong with it.

Is there any song by 3 that makes you sad?
I don't think so.

What is your favorite song by 9?
Oh, um, the entirety of "The Hazards of Love"? No? OK, right now it's The Wanting Comes in Waves.

When did you first get into 2?
When I was at Indiana Wesleyan my friend Doug was really into Zappa. Still is, actually. He introduced me to Zappa's music, and while I don't really listen to Zappa that much these days, I still think the world of him and his music and I wish he was still alive.

How did you get into 3?
Again, at Indiana Wesleyan a man who was my neighbor, friend and fellow student and a total metalhead got me into them. He got their first album, Out of the Silent Planet and played it for me a few times and it stuck.

What is your favorite song by 4?
Potato and/or Pride Is a Sin.

How many times have you seen 9 live?
Twice again! Just saw them recently and oh, I'm still kinda buzzing from that show!

What is a good memory concerning 2?
No one specific memory comes to mind, just a general feeling of happiness from hanging out with Doug. I kinda miss those days.

Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?
No? The problem is I'm really not intimately familiar with all her music. Even the album I do own is sadly underplayed.

What is your favorite song of 1?
Why Did It Have to Be Me

How did you become a fan of 10?
True story: One day I was sitting on my ass in my parents' house watching TV. I switched over to channel 39 (the PBS station out of Ft Wayne) and here's these weirdos singing "Whole Lotta Love" a capella. So I stick around, because they're pretty awesome. And I find out the name of the band and love the rest of the show. Then I found one of their albums, "My, I'm Large" at the Ft Wayne library. And I've been in love ever since. That was all something like 18, 19 years ago now.

Eien no Yume ni Mukatte is Face (or Facing) the Eternal Dream. The Future I'd Hoped for Has Changed is Motometa Ashita ga Kawatta (which I only know because it's on my site, as it's not a song I'm actually familiar with).
