Three weeks

Tomorrow will mark three weeks since my surgery, which is a surreal fact to consider. Which means that three weeks ago today I still had testicles. Weird.
I've been healing nicely, but for the last few days I've had a small problem, in the form of a suture abscess. I'm not going to give you a picture (unless you REALLY want one, that is). It's not really gross, but…yeah, it's not really pretty, either. It was just a little grey/white spot on the suture line. When I mentioned something weeping "wound juice" a few posts back, it was this to which I was referring. It appears to have cleared up, though.
I emailed Dr Nguyen and consulted with
mikotokun too (because a) he's smart and b) he's gonna be a doctor) and the consensus of opinion is that it'd be fine as long as I keep it clean and maybe use a bit of antibiotic cream.
My hormones seem to have smoothed out a bit, and so I've decided to reduce my estrogen to 2mg/day now. I was going to carry on at 4mg until the end of the month, but I think that was actually causing some of my hormonal problems. After all, excess estrogen is converted into testosterone. That's apart from the potential health problems estrogen can cause. And I have been feeling more masculine since the operation, so I hope this will help with that.
Otherwise things seem to be the same. The stumps of the spermatic cords are still down in the scrotum which is a little disconcerting. I have even less stamina this week than I did last week, though that's probably because of me over-exerting myself last Friday. Emotionally I seem to be on a much more even keel now, which is a relief. I'm not dissolving into a ball of tears and snot over every little sad thing in the movies and TV shows I'm watching. And I'm not depressed all the bloody time, either.
It amazes me that in ten days it will have been a month from the date of my surgery. I'll do an update then which will be my last until three months have gone by. If something in particular crops up I'll talk about it, but otherwise I see no reason to bore you with minutiae. So check back on 24 September for the three month update, and until then, enjoy my other posts! :)
