Why did I not import anything from 16 April until yesterday? I have no idea. I wasn’t really doing much of anything else, so I had plenty of time. *shrug* Anyway, here are the details for K:

Artists: 23
Albums: 51
Tracks: 653
Total size is 4.91gb
Total play time is 47 hours, 19 minutes

I’m almost done ripping the “L”s too, with seven CDs to go. I actually ripped most of it last night, and encoded everything I ripped, but I want to wait for the final tally before boring you good folks with that kind of trivia. :)

Now for K.

So I’ve been ripping all my CDs. There’s a reason for that, apart from my garden variety insanity. I’ve set up a Wordpress blog called Year41. I’m going to be listening to all my CDs and posting about them there. It’s my goal to listen to every CD in my collection (apart from Grace’s stuff, most of which is unlistenable as far as I’m concerned, which is what she thinks of MY music, so we’re even!) in this, my 41st year on the planet. I’ve got CDs in there I’ve had for more than ten years which I’ve listened to once or twice - or NEVER. I’m gonna rectify that this year. And since I’m going to be posting anyway, I’m putting Amazon affiliate links to the albums. That’s the last I’m going to mention it. I HATE people who shove those affiliate links down your throat.

Anyway, you can find the blog at Year41. I’m no music writer, but maybe that’ll change by next April.

Finished ripping and encoding the “D”s.

Artists: 172
Albums: 299
Tracks: 3,486
Play time: 10 days, 3 hours, 25 minutes
Size: 24.94GB

“D” wasn’t too large. “E” and “F” aren’t very large either. Give my optical drive problem I’m going to stop after finishing with “E” (which has just 9 albums and 3 singles remaining). I’ll have to take a trip to Fry’s tomorrow to see if I can procure a new DVD burner. I’d like to get through “L” ripped by the end of the week, but I’m unwilling to push my internal drive. There’s a chance my problems with it yesterday were caused by it being overheated, but I’d rather not take any chances.

ETA: I just finished ripping the last of the "E" CDs (Everclear's Sparkle and Fade if you must know). I haven't encoded the tracks yet, but here are the other stats for "E":

Artists: 17
Albums: 28
Tracks: 301
Play time: 19 hours, 33 minutes

If it weren't for my DVD burner dying I probably would have finished "F" by now as well. Oh well, there's no real rush.

ETA:

Size: 1.97GB.

Ripping Elastica’s first album my external DVD-RW let out a horrendous crunching noise. And now it doesn’t work. So while my internal drive is dying, my external drive commits suicide by mid-90’s Britpop. I mean, sure, death by Justine Frischmann would be a good way to go, but still...the timing sucks.

As if you cared! Ha! I’m 2/3 of the way through encoding the “C”s. The total for “C” is 60 artists in 108 albums (a few of those are singles, but mostly it’s full-length albums) comprised of 1,273 tracks with a play time of 3 days, 18 hours and 33 minutes. All told we’re facing 145 artists on 253 albums sporting 2,999 tracks with a total play time of 8 days and 15 hours.

And that’s just a through c. I’m going to need a bigger boat.
